International Congress on Urology and Balkan Medicine to be Held in Moldova in 2023

The organizing committee for the International Congress on “New horizons in urology and perspectives of Balkan Medicine in the post-Covid-19 era” has extended an invitation to medical professionals worldwide to attend the event, which is set to take place in Moldova from June 7-10, 2023.

The congress, which marks the 8th Congress of the Society of Urologists from the Republic of Moldova and the 37th Balkan Medical Congress, will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova and the “Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The event will take place at the Sociocultural University Complex and the conference rooms of the “Timofei Mosneaga” Republican Clinical Hospital, located on 25 and 29 Nicolae Testemitanu streets respectively.

More than 300 medical professionals from various medical institutions in the country and abroad, including urologists, nephrologists, andrologists, oncologists, and pediatricians, are expected to attend the congress. The event will also involve specialists in the fields of urology, nephrology, surgery, neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology, cardiology, rheumatology, gastrology, hepatology, hematology, dermatology, family medicine, medical emergencies, medical rehabilitation, infectious diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, laboratory medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, aimed for a community of over 1000 participants, including young doctors, PhD students and residents.

The congress, which is organized once every four years, will address current issues in the fields of urology, nephrology, andrology, oncology, and uropediatrics. During the event, participants will have access to fundamental courses, lectures, symposia, live surgical interventions, and master classes held by the specialists mentioned above.

The organizing committee hopes that this event will provide an opportunity for medical professionals to share knowledge, ideas, and experiences, and contribute to the advancement of medical research and practice in these important fields.

Prof. Gheorghe Ciobanu Passed Away

Professor Gheorghe Ciobanu , President of the National Section of the Republic of Moldova of the Balkan Medical Union, passed away on the 13th of March 2022. 

Prof. Ciobanu reformed the emergency medical assistance service in Moldova and the Emergency Medicine Institute of Chisinau that he managed for 24 years. He was awarded the “Order of Honor”, the title “Health Protection Eminent”, the medals “B. M. Behterev”, “N. I. Pirogov”, the Grand Medaille of the French Academy of Sciences and “Dimitrie Cantemir” Medal of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. Gheorghe Ciobanu was born on August 29, 1951.

The attendees are invited to send abstracts (oral presentations) for this important scientific event, wishing to promote the collaboration and friendship among the Balkan countries physicians. Abstracts should be structured as follows: Title
(uppercase words), authors (first name, name, professional affiliation indicated as superscript numbers), Introduction, Material and methods, Results, Conclusions, 250 words at the most, Times New Roman 12, spaced at one line, Justified, in French or in English. Accepted abstracts will be published in a supplement of the journal “Archives of the Balkan Medical Union’’, indexed in international databases. Prof. Dr. Vasile Candea Passed Away

The former International Secretary General of the Balkan Medical Union, Prof. Dr. VASILE CANDEA, passed away in Bucharest, Romania, on the 14th of January 2020.  Surgeon Vasile Cândea, former president of the Romanian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, former director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases C.C. Iliescu and of the Cardiovascular Disease Center of the Romanian Army, died at the age of 87.  Prof. Candea was one of the most respected surgeons in Romania and Balkan Region. He has authored over 750 scientific papers published worldwide. CTA-BMU expresses the deepest condolences to the family members, on his passing.

22nd Balkan Medical Days Completed Successfully

22nd Balkan Medical Days Scientific Program was completed successfully. 135 international and domestic registrations took place during the activities. 35 presentations were presented and the quality of presentations and participants beneficence was maximum.

After two days of complete presentations the third day was completed by a social program visiting Bellapais Monastery and village (Monastery of Peace – White Church), St Hilarion Castle and Kyrenia Harbour and Castle. A Classical Music Concert was conducted by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, performing Rondo Alla Turca, W.A Mozart; Waltz No:2, D.Shostakovich as well as classical pieces from Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot themes followed by a reception at Bedesten Nicosia. The cooperation, understanding and goodwill was at a maximum at the completion. We hope this will be an important step gaining back the motto of “sante, amitie, paix”

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS REGARDING 22ND BALKAN MEDICAL DAYS

Dear Colleagues,

In 2018 we published a volume of Conference Proceedings on the occasion of The 35th Balkan Medical Week” held in Athens, Greece. This volume was published by Fillodiritto Publishing House (Italy) and was indexed in ISI Clarivate Analytics database on July 1, 2019.

As a result of numerous requests from members of the Balkan Medical Union, we decided to publish a new volume this year under the same conditions. The volume will include articles in extenso of the papers to be presented at the Cyprus congress and will be sent for indexing to ISI Clarivate Analytics. Since the previous volume has been indexed, there is a very good chance that this new volume will be indexed. Please find enclosed the template of the articles in extenso that will be published in the volume CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS to be edited on the occasion of The 22nd Balkan Medical Day, North Cyprus, September 27-29, 2019. Please use this template for editing your articles, this being a must.

An article must not exceed 6 pages in total (including references) and must be written in English only.

The deadline for abstract submission regarding 22nd Balkan Medical Days  has been extended from 01st of July 2019  to 16th of July 2019. Due to many requests for an extension of the deadline, the CTA-BMU organising committee has agreed to extend the deadline for submissions.
